This interactive session will demonstrate how to run a number talk both in a classroom and virtually. The types of number talks covered will be for addition, multiplication and fractions. Number talks are a powerful pedagogical strategy that is student-centered and reveals students’ ways of thinking. Number talks enhance engagement and can foster strong learning by linking numerical arithmetic to visual representations. Furthermore, they are a way for students to share their problem-solving strategies with their peers, and learn from each other.
