Masterclass: How To Implement Engaging Problem Solving In Your Math Classroom

In this workshop, we will explore:

  • how to use ideas from Building Thinking Classrooms and the 5 Practices of Orchestrating Productive Mathematics Discussions to facilitate problem solving lessons
  • how to use engaging methods for uncovering and fixing hidden student misconceptions
  • how to facilitate real world and Open Middle problems while considering both the teacher and student perspectives.

For the best presentation experience, participants should bring a fully charged internet connected phone with headphones that connect to the phone. Make sure you have downloaded the YouTube app and can scan QR codes.

This will be followed by a showcase from the teachers at Bairnsdale West Primary School who will share their journey to achieve equity and excellence in mathematics education in a regional school .
