Target Audience: Teachers of years 10 to 12.

Session details:

In 1970 Peter Hudson kicked 146 goals to take out the Coleman medal, then backed up this performance with 140 goals in 1971. Gary Ablett (Senior) won the Coleman medal for three successive years with 124, 113 and 118 goals. The last person to kick 100 goals in a season was Lance Franklyn in 2008. Have the days of the key full-forward gone? What makes a winning AFL team and how did the Western Bulldogs take out the 2016 Premiership? Join us in this webinar to see the mathematics behind the results.

In this interactive session we will demonstrate how mathematics can be used, together with TI-Nspire technology, to unpack AFL results and data. Discussion will also take place as to how this can be applied to other sports and other data sets.

Peter works with Texas Instruments providing training for teachers, producing educational content and supporting product development. He has taught High School mathematics and physics for more than 25 years. Peter is passionate about the appropriate use of CAS technology and has supported programs in Australia and New Zealand.

Participants who cancel their booking on or prior to the advertised closing date will receive a full refund less the cancellation fee of $35. All cancellations must be in writing and include any documentation already sent out.

NO REFUNDS are available after the advertised closing date as costs will have been incurred and catering booked.

If events are free there is no cancellation fee.
