Victorian Challenge and Enrichment Maths Games Day Years 7-8

The aim of this program is to challenge high ability students in Years 7 & 8 with a fun, challenging, collaborative and competitive mathematics-based games day. It is open to students in GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS ONLY. A Maths Games Day is an opportunity for students to work in teams of 4; apply and develop their mathematical talents and thinking skills in a setting where Maths is regarded as fun and worthwhile; work with like-minded high ability students from a diverse range of schools; participate in mathematical activities and games without the usual classroom pressures; work effectively in teams and develop strategies to work collaboratively to solve problems; enhance their problem-solving skills; get excited about mathematics, whilst being rewarded through prizes and awards. Teams can be made up of students from Years 7 & 8 only. If you are not a GOVERNMENT school please look at the other games days offered from MAV on the events page.

Coding Challenges for extending Secondary School students

They're designed to extend your Yr 7 - 10 students and captivate them with problem solving challenges that will require both their intellect and creativity. In this workshop, you can experience the challenges for yourself and find out how you can get access for your students for free!

Day 1 is for current and emerging mathematics and numeracy leaders, and system leaders. Sessions provide practical advice and tools to lead change in your own school context.

Teaching VCE Matrices

Teaching matrices for the first time in VCE General Mathematics can be daunting if the content is unfamiliar. With the change of mathematics study design being implemented in 2023 this session will look at introducing the matrices module into Units 1 & 2 VCE General Mathematics as well as content for Units 3 & 4. The session will focus on the full matrices module working through typical VCE examination questions and tips for teaching matrices in VCE mathematics.

Participants who cancel their booking on or prior to the advertised closing date will receive a full refund less the cancellation fee of $35. All cancellations must be in writing and include any documentation already sent out.

NO REFUNDS are available after the advertised closing date as costs will have been incurred and catering booked.

If events are free there is no cancellation fee.
