Job Description
Purpose of the Role
Lead the educational design and delivery of a statewide, residential enrichment program for high ability Year 9&10 students, ensuring:
- Rigorous, senior secondary aligned advanced mathematics learning,
- Inclusive and differentiated experiences for high ability and twice exceptional learners, inclusive of regional and rural students
- Safe, compliant, and high-quality residential delivery,
- Strong partnerships with industry, academics and camp operations partners,
- Consistent achievement of program outcomes, KPIs, and compliance standards.
About the Program
The Year 10 Maths Camps initiative delivers 24 5day (4 night) residential enrichment camps across Victoria from Term 2 holidays/Term 3 2026 through December 2028, providing 960 places for high ability learners, including twice exceptional students. The program blends specialist-led workshops with real-world, team-based projects.
Key Responsibilities
1) Program Design & Curriculum
- Codesign a documented curriculum plan and detailed camp program that extends beyond traditional classroom learning, emphasising authentic application and team-based projects.
- Embed advanced concepts with appropriate scaffolds and differentiation for twice exceptional learners.
- Integrate pathways exploration (STEM careers, tertiary options) and hands-on problem-solving.
2) Expert Engagement & Partnerships
- Source and brief (industry professionals, researchers/lecturers, current STEM students) for talks, workshops, demos and Q&As.
- Maintain effective relationships with universities, industry partners, and peak bodies to ensure academic rigour and relevance.
3) Camp Delivery & Supervision
- Lead the academic program delivery on site for cohorts of 40 students per camp across up to six venues statewide.
- Coordinate and supervise afterhours activities that build connection and wellbeing.
- Attend offsite camps (5 days/4 nights) and participate in overnight supervision.
- Support, brief, and oversee casual supervisors/educators.
4) Risk, Safety, Compliance & Assurance
- Lead or contribute to Risk Registers and Emergency Management Plans per camp; enact incident management and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with Child Safe Standards (Vic); uphold child safe code of conduct; confirm WWCC/VIT for all relevant personnel; apply the two adult rule.
- Participate in site inductions, WHS processes, and emergency drills.
5) Data, Evaluation & Reporting
- Coordinate and act on student and parent/carer satisfaction surveys; collate qualitative feedback and continuous improvement notes.
- Contribute to midyear, annual reports , and final closeout reporting (Jan 2029).
- Provide program analytics for consolidated reporting and invoicing milestones.
Job Requirement
Key Selection Criteria
Qualification & Expertise
- Degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or related STEM field; senior secondary expertise strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering advanced mathematics enrichment or extension programs for high ability students.
Pedagogy & Inclusion
- Proven ability to design authentic, project based learning with rigorous mathematical thinking.
- Experience differentiating for high ability and twice exceptional learners; commitment to inclusive practice and accessibility.
Program Leadership
- Experience leading complex, multisite or residential education programs; able to coordinate ~40 learners per camp and manage casual staff.
- Strong planning and execution skills under tight, event based timelines.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Successful track record liaising with universities, industry partners, and education agencies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; confident public presenter/facilitator.
Safeguarding & Compliance
- Demonstrated knowledge of Child Safe Standards (Vic) and DE Study Camp ratios.
- WWCC or VIT, and ability to meet all safeguarding checks prior to commencement.
Availability & Travel
- Willingness and capacity to travel across Victoria and attend up to ten 4 night/5day residential camps (including overnight during camp weeks).
- Comfortable with a 0.6 FTE role that flexes up during delivery periods and reduces in non camp periods.
