Build Me Up VCE – Event Overview
Build Me Up VCE is a comprehensive professional learning program designed to support teachers who are new to teaching a VCE Mathematics subject, or who want to strengthen their subject knowledge, confidence and pedagogical practice.
Unlike a one-off professional learning day, Build Me Up provides sustained support across the year. Through a combination of face-to-face workshops, topic-specific deep-dive webinars and live Q&A sessions, participants are supported to develop both the mathematical knowledge and practical teaching strategies needed to successfully navigate their VCE subject.
What participants will explore
- VCAA requirements and expectations
- the structure and flow of the relevant study design
- key mathematical concepts and skills
- effective sequencing of topics and learning
- common student misconceptions and areas of difficulty
- assessment practices and preparation for VCE assessment
- effective pedagogical approaches
- practical strategies and resources for classroom implementation
Participants also have opportunities to ask questions, discuss challenges arising in their own classrooms and learn alongside experienced mathematics educators and other teachers of the subject.

Build Me Up VCE is available for:
General Mathematics
Two full-day face-to-face workshops, six topic deep-dive webinars and two Q&A webinars. Participants can choose to attend the face-to-face component in Brunswick, Dandenong or Ballarat.
MAV Members: $1,600

Mathematical Methods

Specialist Mathematics
Flexible options are available for Units 1 & 2, Units 3 & 4, or the complete Units 1-4 program. The program includes face-to-face workshops, topic deep-dive webinars and Q&A support tailored to the selected units.
Face-to-face sessions will be held at a central Melbourne location, with virtual participation available for regional and rural teachers where travel is difficult.
