The MAV is proud to be partnering with the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI), the University of Melbourne, and The Y Discovery Camps to deliver the Victorian Maths Camps for high-ability Year 9 and Year 10 students from Victorian government schools, proudly funded by the Victorian Department of Education.

As outlined in AMSI's media release, the Victorian Maths Camps initiative will provide free and accessible enrichment opportunities for government school teenagers across Victoria. The program will run from July 2026 through December 2028, delivering 24 residential camps and 960 student places in total.
Each camp is designed as a five-day, four-night residential experience, hosted at Y Discovery Camps sites across Victoria.
What students will experience at Victorian Maths Camps
The camps are designed to inspire and extend students through specialist-led workshops and team-based, real-world mathematical problem solving that goes beyond traditional classroom learning.
Equity, access and opportunity
A core commitment of the Victorian Maths Camps is that high-quality extension opportunities are accessible and inclusive. The program is designed to support high-ability learners, including twice-exceptional students, and to deliver a safe, high-quality residential experience that meets Victorian child safety expectations and Department of Education study camp requirements.
MAV's Student Enrichment Pathways
For MAV, the Victorian Maths Camps are an exciting extension of our long-standing commitment to nurturing students who love mathematical challenge. They will sit alongside MAV’s established student programs that support high-ability learners and build curiosity, confidence and capability — including the Victorian Maths Games Challenge, the Victorian Maths Games Day Challenge, and the Victorian Coding Challenge.
MAV is also proud of the deep history and impact of the Victorian Maths Talent Quest (MTQ), which has run annually since 1982 and continues to celebrate students applying mathematics to real-world investigations.
Together, these opportunities reflect MAV's belief that high-ability students thrive when they can explore rich problems, connect with like-minded peers, and see the power of mathematics beyond the classroom. The Victorian Maths Camps will add a unique residential experience to this pathway, bringing students together for immersive, workshop-based learning and team-based problem solving in inspiring settings across Victoria.
How schools can register interest
Further details about the camps , including dates, selection and application processes will be published shortly. In the meantime, schools and educators who would like to learn more about how their students can participate are invited to submit an Expression of Interest.
