The Victorian Challenge and Enrichment Series is a key initiative of Victoria’s $60.2 million Student Excellence Program and will provide enrichment opportunities across the curriculum to extend high-ability students from prep to year 12 in Victorian government schools, so they are better supported to excel and reach their full potential.
MAV is pleased to be running two exciting activities to be delivered across the state between Sept 2020 and Dec 2022, available to students in metropolitan and regional Victorian Government schools. Activities will be free and appropriately tailored to the needs of high-ability students.
VICTORIAN CODING CHALLENGE
MAV, in collaboration with Digital Learning and Teaching Victoria (DLTV), are producing a 2-stage coding challenge, aimed to extend curious minds, nurture passions and support students in refining their coding skills.
In stage 1 an in-school coding challenge will be undertaken, with schools receiving access to a pack of activities to challenge students in school at their own pace.
In stage 2 a Coding competition will get students working as a team, challenge them to solve a problem, and create a coded solution for judging. Prizes will be available for great code, and for displaying creative problem solving approaches.
This exciting Coding Challenge kicks off in September 2021.
MATHS GAMES DAYS
MAV will deliver a series of Mathematics Games days for students from year 7 to 10. These will be delivered across the state, in metropolitan and regional schools. Each venue will host a separate year 7/8 day and a year 9/10 day. The aim of this program is to challenge high ability students in a fun, challenging, collaborative and competitive mathematics-based games day. Teams of students compete for a variety of prizes including individual prizes for creativity, contribution to group work, and lucky door prizes.
Games day will start form term 2 2021, across all DET regions.
MAV are very excited to be able to partner with DET on this initiative. Find out more about these initiatives and how to enrol students here.
