Picture7Assisting with Judging

The MTQ receives hundreds of entries which each need to be judged a minimum of two times. By every school providing a teacher for a minimum of two hours, we can ensure that each entry is judged efficiently and fairly. Judging is a great professional development idea for all involved. Judging will take place from Thursday 23 – Tuesday 28 August 2018 at La Trobe University and we encourage metropolitan and regional schools, independent and student teachers to participate in the judging process. For more information on the judging process please click on http://www.mav.vic.edu.au/student-activities/maths-talent-quest.html

MTQ Sponsorship

Do you want to touch base with the Mathematics Educators of the future? Then the Maths Talent Quest (The MTQ) is the sponsorship opportunity for you. In 2017, The Mathematical Association of Victoria received over 600 entries into the competition from both primary and secondary schools across Australia, and had over 1000 students, parents and teachers attend the awards ceremony in October.

The Mathematical Association of Victoria would greatly appreciate your support to enable us to provide the Maths Talent Quest at a reasonable cost to students and to reward their efforts. For more information about the 2018 Maths Talent Quest sponsorship contact Peter Saffin psaffin@mav.vic.edu.au.

Registration for 2018 will open at the beginning of Term Two 2018. We would like to welcome Kilmore Primary School who will be hosting a State-Wide Games Day for Year 5 and 6 students this year!

What better way to enhance your students’ interdisciplinary skills than with a Games Day?

Maths Games Days provide students with the opportunity to:

  • develop their mathematical talents and thinking skills in a setting where maths is regarded as fun and worthwhile
  • work with like-minded students from a diverse range of schools
  • participate in mathematical activities without the usual class room pressures
  • win prizes and rewards
  • get excited about Maths

Students work in teams of 4 to compete for a variety of prizes. The participants are drawn from those who have a keen interest in mathematics and who can operate as a team.
