Victorian Coding Challenge 2026

WHAT IS THE VCC?

Students will receive access to a virtual coding kit comprising eight modules, each featuring an engaging coding challenge. Tasks are designed with a low floor and high ceiling, allowing students to enter the problem easily while offering significant depth and extension. Prior coding experience is assumed.

Students access tasks through a user-friendly online platform, available both at school and at home. To solve the challenges, students will work in either Scratch (block-based coding) or Python (text-based coding), applying coding and algorithmic thinking to solve problems with embedded mathematical ideas.

COST

Government schools:

Free (funded by the Victorian Department of Education through the Victorian Challenge and Enrichment Series)

Non-government schools:

$12 per student (Member schools)

$15 per student (Non member schools)

Event Booking and Cancellation Policy

Participants who cancel their booking on or prior to the advertised closing date will receive a full refund less the cancellation fee of $35. All cancellations must be in writing and include any documentation already sent out. (Except in the case of illness, a 50% refund is available subject to supply of a medical certificate. The certificate and application for refund must be supplied in writing to MAV within 24 hours after the event.)

NO REFUNDS are available after the advertised closing date as costs will have been incurred and catering booked.

If events are free there is no cancellation fee.
