Webinar Two: Play and Mathematics: Engaging Learning Through Imagination
Play alone does not automatically result in mathematical development. However, it offers valuable opportunities to support young children's mathematical thinking. To harness these opportunities, educators must recognise their importance and engage children in meaningful mathematical conversations and exploration. This webinar will focus on how play can become a powerful teaching tool for children's mathematical learning. It will introduce and explore Fleer’s Conceptual PlayWorld approach in mathematics, demonstrating how educators in play-based settings can use imaginative scenarios to support children's mathematical thinking, conversations, and exploration in early learning environments. By attending this webinar, you will learn: · How to dramatise play narratives to enhance children’s mathematical exploration · How to make mathematics learning personally meaningful for young children
