VCE Mathematical Methods (CAS) Units 3 & 4
FREE Professional Learning Workshops

The VCAA has contracted the Mathematical Association of Victoria to organise a series of 3 hour workshops state-wide. The workshops are for new teachers of VCE Mathematical Methods (CAS) Units 3 & 4. Maths Methods CAS Transition program - July/August 2010

The program aims to assist teachers in the transition from teaching Maths Methods to Maths Methods CAS and will include provision of detailed session notes and other articles and resources. Resources will be available for download prior to the commencement of the course. Participants in the course need to have taught Mathematical Methods or are at least familiar with the study design. Separate TI Nspire and Casio ClassPad programs will be held.

VCE Meet the Examiners

These two hour programs will provide sessions for Maths Methods and for Further Maths in 2010. We are not able to deliver Specialist Maths sessions this year. Presenters will discuss the processes for setting and marking the 2009 examinations and student responses and difficulties. They will comment on past examinations in general and about specific questions on past examinations. There will be time for questions and discussion. Sessions will be provided in metropolitan and Regional areas. The presenters will include Allason McNamara, Bruce Henry, Rob Vermay, Peter Jones, Rod Watson and others to be advised. Register here.

CAS in Further Maths

This program will explore the use of CAS calculators in Further Maths and will support both Casio Classpad and TI Nspire calculators. It will be offered in Term 4 and will be presented by a variety of experienced practising teachers. Further information will be provided at a later date.

Specialist Maths Series

This sequential program offers a series of six workshops for new or prospective teachers of Specialist Mathematics. The workshops will be conducted by experienced teachers of Specialist Mathematics who will share their subject knowledge, course implementation and curriculum content. The use of CAS calculators in Specialist Maths will also be included. Further information will be available soon.
