No matter what resources you use for students to practice (both skills and working mathematically), you will need to instruct some students sometimes. The major purpose of such teaching should be to assist the development of understanding. There are many excellent resources around to assist you with the task of knowing how best to help students to learn.

In the material that appears under these links, teaching ideas are organised by VELS level. This is because each class has students at three or more VELS levels, so you need to know how to teach at all those levels. It also helps to be able to see where ideas are leading.
