The textbook ['one-size-fits-all, heads down'] model works with only a minority. Text work is easy to prepare, is teachable until class management problems arise, but for many is difficult to learn. It is easy to assess by testing - we just blame the students for their failures. A textbook does not meet the needs of about half the class. If offers little in the way of problem solving or applications, and so does not match the requirements of VELS.
The files below show a vast number of non-text resources. They are categorised by dimension, and within that by VELS level. The content sub-headings are taken from the VELS summary statements.
The dimension Working Mathematically is not listed separately. Instead resources within each other dimension are categorised by Toolbox: concepts and skills, Mathematical problem solving and Real problem solving (two components of Working Mathematically). Software is included in whichever section it best fits: concepts, skills or applications.
