VCE SACs Evenings - February 2012

These two and a half hour evening sessions provided opportunities for teachers of VCE to be presented with and discuss possible starting points for their students. Participants were provided with a selection of Analysis and Application Tasks and a CD of the material relevant to the particular study. The process of developing appropriate tasks, including criteria mapping and the inclusion of technology was discussed with specific reference to the sample tasks provided at the session. Separate sessions were held for Maths Methods CAS, Specialist Maths and Further Maths.

VCE Meet the Examiners 2012

These two hour programs provided sessions for Maths Methods CAS, Further Maths and Specialist Maths. Presenters discussed the processes for setting and marking the 2011 examinations and student responses and difficulties. They commented on past examinations in general and about specific questions on past examinations. There will be time for questions and discussion.

CAS in Further Maths

In this program participants will be able to choose from a range of sessions. Each session will address a different aspect of the course and will be presented by experienced practising teachers. This program will explore the use of CAS calculators in Further Maths and will support both Casio Classpad and TI Nspire calculators. It will be offered in Term 2. 

 

Using CAS Calculators in Years 9 and 10

This program will deal with how to introduce the basic features of CAS calculators to students in year 9 and 10, how to use the technology to complement the year 9 and 10 Mathematics courses, and how it can be used to develop supplementary activities for the years 9 and 10 students. Both Casio and TI will be catered for. It will be offered in Term 2.
