I am putting the finishing touches to MAVlist Edition 12:09 at the moment, but one really important item just plain wouldn't wait, so apologies for the quick intrusion on your school day, but here it is:
Australian Curriculum Senior Mathematics Curriculum released .... have your say now!
At their last meeting the MAV Council noted that the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority is conducting consultation on the draft senior secondary Australian Curriculum for English, Mathematics, Science and History until 20 July 2012. It was agreed that the MAV ought provide a formal response on behalf of members. To this end, the ACARA consultation questions have been posted to the MAV website in the form of a survey seeking responses from all members.
Feedback is sought on the details of the draft curriculum for each senior secondary subject in relation to the following:
- The rationale, aims and coherence of the unit structure
- The coverage and clarity of curriculum content
- The clarity and coherence of the achievement standards
- The representation of general capabilities and cross-curriculum priorities.
Each section of the questionnaire requires responses on a rating scale to key statements with an opportunity to include comments that focus on suggestions for improvement.
